Sycamore is an informal course about the Christian faith & its relevance for life today.

It gives you space to meet other people (virtually mostly for this coming year again), share ideas, explore your beliefs, and think about questions that really matter. If you want to become a Catholic then this is the course for you!

Each session involves a short film and some time for discussion.

There’s no pressure. You can be yourself without any fear of being judged. You don’t have to comment either. There’s a real sense of community, a spirit of friendship and some great conversation. Everyone is welcome.

How will the course work in our Parish ?

On the dates provided you will either meet in person or via a zoom meeting. We will start each zoom session promptly at 8.00pm and each face to face session at 7.00pm. We will end no later than 9.10pm. Don’t forget to get your coffee (or alternative drink) ready and a piece of cake to make everyone else drool!

There will be a welcome and opening prayer and then we will start watching the video which will be paused at different points for discussion. No one has to comment but it’s always good if as many people who feel able to do so, do join in. If the session raises any issues for you or you would like to talk something through more, please do contact one of the Team who will be at the sessions or

 Fr. Craig.

This is a course where we all explore! You may feel as time goes that becoming a part of the Catholic Church is not for you now. There will be no pressure put on you to take a step you are not ready to take. There will be signposting to additional resources to help you explore more.

I’m already a Catholic but want to explore more?

Great – come along. The more the merrier! No matter who we are, we all have more to learn and more riches to receive.

What people have said about the Course:

One person from the Parish who did the course states: “I wanted to say how good the Sycamore Course was because it led to many interesting evenings of discussion about interesting topics and it gave a really good overview of what the Catholic religion is about and prepared me very well to become part of the faith family”.
